BEFORE DIVING
Learn to dive with a qualified facility and scuba instructor.
Attend refresher courses, lifesaving and Oxygen Provider courses.
Undergo an annual medical examination by a diving physician.
Always check that Oxygen and First Aid Kit are available at the dive site.
Do not forget your insurance membership card and check its expiry date.
Plan a day free from diving after every 3-4 diving days.
Eat and drink adequately avoiding alcohol.
DURING THE DIVE
Always dive with a buddy and with surface support.
Take into account any currents or rough sea.
Always use up to date well maintained dive equipment and always carry a Dive Table even if using a dive computer.
Always carry out surface marker buoy, a reflective mirror and a torch light in your BCD pocket.
Do not Yo-Yo dive!
Do not exceed a 9-10 meters per minute ascent rate and, if possible, slow down further in the last few meters.
Never hold your breath when scuba diving.
Spend the time during the end of your dive above 9 meters.
Always carry out a 3 minute safety stop at a depth of 4-5 meters before you end every dive.
AFTER EACH DIVE
Protect yourself from heat loss by wearing adequate clothing.
Be well rested and avoid exertion.
Avoid dehydration and drink a lot of water.
Never try to carry out in-water decompression in the event of suspected decompression illness.
Never underestimate the appearance, even if late, of any symptom following a dive and call specialists to evaluate the situation.
Permit an adequate interval following the last dive before flying.
